Conrad Hotel

5-star Contrad-Hotel, Hamburg

HVAC & VSD Retrofit Consulting

Delivered for the asset owner of a 5-star luxury hospitality property operated under a global hotel brand, within a newly renovated historic building. As part of the Hilton Group’s 2025 opening of the Conrad Hotel, the main air handling units were upgraded to modern, high-efficiency systems.

The engagement focused on the development of a comprehensive Energy Efficiency Concept, establishing a robust Emission Baseline for Scope 2 GHG emissions as the foundation for performance-driven retrofit decisions. Based on this baseline, a targeted HVAC Retrofit Strategy was defined, including the upgrade of major Air Handling Units (AHU) and the implementation of VSD-based efficiency measures, ensuring measurable energy reductions without compromising guest comfort or operational standards.

In parallel, the scope included the preparation of the energy efficiency documentation required for public funding applications, full coordination with relevant authorities, and verification of compliant subsidy utilisation following installation. A structured Measurement, Reporting & Verification (MRV) framework was applied to support energy performance measurement, savings verification, and post-retrofit performance validation.

This project represents the founder’s established executive track record, delivered prior to the inception of Haas Sustainable Consulting LLC.
